Dear Ms. Zrihen,
I am reading the book called “Resilience” by Alonzo Mourning. Mourning says, “The idea was to build on success.” The reason why I choose this is because you can apply it to anything in life. The significance of this quote is that it is important apply to your life. The genre is autobiographical. The characters are Alonzo and all of Alonzo friends and coaches. The setting is all over the world and it is through his life time. The conflict is that Alonzo suffers from a kidney disorder. The tone of this book is sad. The mood of this book is unhappy. The theme of this book is that even if you have a disorder you should still fight for success. The point of view is first person. The pattern of pattern in this books his life.  I would rate this book 5 out of 5 because it is really interesting. The author’s purpose is to entertain. The main idea is that if you survive you will do better. Some text features are the pictures, captions, and the title of the chapters. a new vocab word I learned was centerpiece

Alonzo mourning was born on 2/8/1970 in Virginia. He went to Georgetown University. When he got drafted for the NBA he played for the Charlotte Hornets. After the Hornets he played for the Heat. His nickname is “Zo.” He got a kidney transplant when he was a in the NBA. He has a lot of awards from his basketball career. He went to the Olympics in 2000 and got a gold medal. Alonzo had 2 children of his own. His collage coach for the basketball team was tough. He would work them out. He would be shouting all of the time. He graduated from college in 1992. He retired in 2009. He is in the Virginia hall of fame.

Sincerely,
Siraj Romdhane,

Dear Ms. Zrihen,
I am reading the book called “Resilience” by Alonzo Mourning, a famous basketball player.  The genre is an autobiography. The topic is about a basketball player who suffered from kidney failure. The main idea is that even if you are rich you still can have sickness that causes you to do poorly on the job. The author’s purpose is to inform you because it tells you about his life. The point of view is first person. A quote from the book is “Brian got a hot dog”. This was on page 5. The reason why I picked this was because before he didn’t eat and now he wants to eat.

When Alonzo was young, his father saw that his son didn’t eat.  So he kept on going to the doctors. The doctors did a lot of operations on him. He had tubes coming out of his mouth. On one Valentine’s Day, he had a donor give him a kidney. His mom and dad were divorced so he asked to go to foster care. There he met his foster mother. When he grew up he became a Miami heat basket ball player. He had a lot of money. Now he has 2 children of his own. Alonzo was raised in Virginia but born in Ohio. He suffers from a kidney failure. Unfortunately, because he suffers with kidney failure, he will not be able to continue playing basketball for that amount of time.

The essential detail is that even if you’re rich you still can have a medical conditions. The text feature is picture, sub title, and title.  The pattern of organization is details. Some figurative language  is a simile and metaphor. Some words that I had with trouble were courtesy, lingering, biopsy, and fulfill.

I am reading the book “1000 facts on sharks “. There is no author. The genre is informational. The topic is about sharks. The main idea is that sharks are cool animals and we should protect it. What I learned from this story is that the largest shark is called a whale shark it can reach a maximum size of 60 ft. I never knew that sharks have everything that we have inside as a human but inside of lungs they have gills never knew that “shark skin is so rough that in the past it was used to make a type of sand paper called shagreen”. Another interesting fact is “sharks brains aren’t round like ours they are long and narrow”.

A interesting fact is a” basking sharks have huge livers that weigh up to 4,500lb”.another fact is “that there are 9 species of hammerheads. Another interesting fact about sharks are” a reindeer was found inside a dead Greenland sharks stomach. A fact is “some sailors used to think sawfish sawed holes in boats in order to eat the passengers, but ther was no evidence.

Dear.zrihen
I’m reading the book called across the universe by Beth revis. The genre is sci-fi. The characters Amy, elder, eldest, doc. The setting takes place on a ship going to a new earth. The conflict was that Amy was supposed to be unfrozen for 300 years but she was unfrozen at 250. The theme is treat people the way they treat you. The point of view is third person. The authors’ purpose is to entertain. The author perspective is meanthe tone is harsh. The mood is harsh.
After they talk the doc says to Amy that he going to be gone for a while and he says that this your room until we get to the new earth. so she takes a shower and when she gets out she finds clothing in the drawer. Then he hears a ding and it a oven so Amy looks inside and finds a meat cake ans so she eats it then when she put on her cloth she went outside and ran and found a city that has the same people. The people on the street asked a lot of questions and so an old lady said to carry on and told Amy that she needs to go Back to where she came from  when she did a guy helped her  clean up because she was dirty.
